It is with the discovering of improvised music in 1997 that Christine Sehnaoui decided to start her own autodidact study of sound experimentation on the alto saxophone. She began playing with orchestras like IVRAIE resident at Instants Chavirés in Montreuil, and in different regular formations. Her main musical partners include Michel Waisvisz, Hans Koch, Mats Gustafsson, Christian Munthe, Sharif Sehnaoui, Mazen Kerbaj.For the past few years, she has been working with the field of dance ( Buto and contemporary dance) and also she undertakes an ungoing research on musical pedagogy (concerts for children, intervention in schools). https://www.myspace.com/christinesehnaouiBesides, since 2001, she contibutes to develop impovisation in her country of origins, Lebanon, where she co-organizes the annual festival of improvised music in Lebanon, called « Irtijal ». Recently, she has released two DVDs called "Résistance(s)", compilation of arab experimental videos.For more infos : https://www.lowave.com Sharif Sehnaoui is a free improvising guitarist from Beirut. He plays both electric & acoustic guitars with extended and prepared techniques focusing on expanding the intrinsic possibilities of these instruments without the use of effects or electronics. He divides his time between Paris, where he started his career as an improviser in 1999, playing at Instants Chavirés where he was a member of several orchestras (Motorchestra, Ivraie.) and shared musical relationships with french musicians such as Stéphane Rives, Quentin Dubost, Thierry Madiot or Sophie Agnel among many others, and Beirut where he has actively contributed to the emergence of a unprecedented experimental music scene. Along with Christine Sehnaoui & Mazen Kerbaj he created the "Irtijal" festival in 2001 that is at the moment the only improvised and new music festival in the arab world. He also runs the Al Maslakh label, created by Kerbaj, and devoted to "publish the unpublishable" on the Lebanese musical scene.He has so far collaborated with musicians and artists such as Michael Zerang, Wade Matthews, Axel Dörner, Jean Pallandre, Ingar Zach, Tom Chant, Le Quân Ninh, Nikos Veliotis, Gene Coleman, Masahiko Okura, or buto dancer Atsushi Takenoushi. Heiner Metzger Gabel, Messer, Löffel, Holzstifte, Schneebesen und der Tisch selbst sind Klanggeber beim soundtable von Heiner Metzger. Selbst die zarteste Aktion mit Zahnbürsten, Kleiderbürsten oder Bratschenbogen an dem präparierten Tisch oder dem daran angebrachten Besteck wird mittels elektronischer Verstärkung hörbar. Mit dem soundtable generiert er rhythmisch vertrackte Klänge und Soundtexturen von zugleich stofflicher Präsenz und Abstraktion. In diversen Ensembles konzertiert er als improvisierender Musiker, komponierte graphische Notationen u.a. für das TonArt-Ensemble, organisiert den „h7- club für aktuelle musik“ und moderiert die monatliche Radiosendung „klingding - sen-dung für improvisierte musik“. https://www.heinermetzger.de Nordzucker. Seit 2004 erkundet das Trio NORDZUCKER einen sehr eigenen Klangraum. Lars Scherzberg, Michael Maierhof und Birgit Ulher haben eine individuelle Klangsprache jenseits des konventionellen Instrumentalklangs entwickelt, sie arbeiten mit erweiterten Spieltechniken und Präparationen z.B. mit Wäscheklammern, Metallobjekten und Dämpfern. Die offene, von Pausen durchsetzte Textur wird bestimmt von aufgespaltenen und mehrschichtigen Klängen und Klangmischungen. Die Musik von NORDZUCKER verbindet improvisatorische Freiheit mit musikalischer Präzision. Die erste CD -500 gr.- des Hamburger Trios ist erschienen bei dem portugiesischen Label Creative Sources. https://www.creativesourcesrec.com Birgit Ulher studierte bildende Kunst, was ihre Musik nachhaltig beeinflusste.S ie arbeitet seit den frühen 80er Jahren im Bereich der experimentellen und improvisierten Musik. Seitdem hat sie eine individuelle, am Klang orientierte musikalische Sprache jenseits des offenen Trompetentons entwickelt. Ihre Arbeit umfasst sowohl akustische als auch elektroakustische Projekte, Solo-Performances und Projekte mit TänzerInnen. Neben ihren festen Gruppen spielt sie oft in Ad-hoc-Formationen mit europäischen und amerikanischen ImprovisatorInnen. Internationale Konzerttätigkeit und zahlreiche CD-Veröffentlichungen. https://www.birgit-ulher.de Lars Scherzberg Studium am Hamburger Konservatorium und an der Hochschule für Künste Bremen mit dem Hauptfach Gitarre. Während des Studiums in Bremen erster Kontakt mit der freien Improvisation und der neuen Musik. Intensive Auseinandersetzung mit dem Saxofon und Erarbeiten einer eigenen Präparationstechnik. Ca. zwei Jahre Unterricht & Projekte mit Wolfgang Fuchs. Lebt in Hamburg als freischaffender Musiker. Konzerte im In- und Ausland. Arbeitet mit Musikern aus den Bereichen freie Improvisation und neue Musik zusammen. Michael Maierhof Freischaffender Komponist und Improvisator, lebt in Hamburg; studierte Mathematik und Musik in Kassel sowie Philosophie und Kunstgeschichte in Hamburg, Beginn der kompositorischen Arbeit 1988; verschiedene Stipendien, darunter Cité des Arts, Paris; lectures u. a. am Trinity College in Dublin, am California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, am Mozarteum in Salzburg, an der Musikhochschule in Stuttgart.
