An evening of three sound acts performed alongside the moving image 🐎 They inspect the cinematic language by means of video scores, site-specificity and algorithms housed within the black box of B-movie's film theatre 🎟️ Descriptions for each act below 📢 ✻ Junya Fujita's work is a performance that exposes the cinema as a space for listening. What is projected is neither story nor image, but the empty seats illuminated by the projector’s light. The artist mixes sounds captured by multiple microphones placed inside and outside the cinema. Audience, artist, apparatus, architecture, and the external environment interact as equal entities, yet their entirety remains unclear. This work presents that before cinema serves human expression, the relations among light, sound, space, and matter intersect contingently. ✻ Hermes Hemmnis's Schimmelreiter approaches film as an experiment from a musical perspective. Inspired by Theodor Storm’s Der Schimmelreiter, it develops a fragmented, drifting narrative rather than directly adapting the original work. Images, subtitles, and a live ambient score are presented simultaneously, allowing narrative elements and atmosphere to emerge without fixed structure. ✻ Sasha Iliashenko's Softlock is a performance with a self-playing video game, featuring schematic, low-polygon environments of the artist’s childhood places reconstructed from memory. These range from the area where the artist grew up to their grandmother’s dacha. The camera moves through these places in a precise yet seemingly chaotic fashion, echoing a first-person speedrun. However, the game lacks a key requirement of speedrunning — an end goal — thus making it play in an evolving, roller-coaster-like loop.
