BEEK w/ Gilles Aubry, Kathrin Wildner, Pedro Oliveira, Hye-Eun Kim

That sunday evening invites various practices of engaging with sound – to be seen, to be heard and to be discussed. Still celebrating the book launch of Gilles Aubry’s recently published work Sawt, Bodies, Species - Sonic Pluralism in Morocco, he will introduce us to his research on the sonic dimensions of our environment, reaching from animal, plant, and mineral voices to ritual practices and technological infrastructures, moderated by Kathrin Wildner. Excerpts of the book’s multivoiced narratives about acoustic practices in Morocco will be accompanied by moving images and and a musical performance. Pedro Oliveira, sound artist and scholar whose research is committed to an anticolonial study of listening and its intersections with violence on the European border. His ongoing artistic work explores the algorithmic coupling of voice and citizenship in the asylum seeking system of Germany. Pedro will intervene with a performance (TRANSIENT #5) that seeks to undo this coupling by offering contiguous encounters between body and technical systems, whereby recognition and identification are replaced by poetic unknowability. Hye-Eun Kim’s musical practice is classical training extended by free improvisation. Her meticulous arrangements of live synth drones, sampler non-rhythms and fieldrecordings, also find expression in her dj mixes. She will lead us from one to another and beyond, creating these spiritualistic soundscapes. Cooperation with the adocs publishing house.
