Michel Doneda Gunnar Lettow Birgit Ulher solo & trio Michel Doneda (1954) is one of the major figures of the improvised scene, a soprano saxophonist in the tradition of Sydney Bechet, Steve Lacy and Evan Parker. An attentive traveller who listens to the world, he has not ceased to travel the continents (from Africa to the USA and Japan) for more than forty years and to multiply his collaborations with numerous improvising musicians, but also with painters, poets, dancers, experimental filmmakers, etc. Co-organizer, mainly in Toulouse, of several editions of "la marche de la poésie" with the poet SEGE PEY, as well as of "chantiers d'art provisoires", and the festival "INFLUX". Numerous performances in gardens, forests, but also in urban areas, often with dancers. Today he is a member of "la grande volière", a project playing in the trees with 6 soprano saxophonists and the audio naturalist Marc Namblard, and a member of the ensemble UN with 25 improvising artists. Since 2018 he is active in Berlin where he participates in several projects, mainly musical. He is involved in the experience in the Bornestrasse studio and, has a long time collaboration in duo with Bassplayer Alexander Frangenheim. Michel Doneda is the author of the book "MIETTES 2" published by MOMELUDIES and of a "Carnet Vert" published on the magazine des Ressources. "Inventor of unheard-of musical proposals and syntaxes freed from the usual conventions and codes of use of his instrument, this maverick improviser gives a solo concert here. Michel Doneda reinvests the soprano saxophone by focusing on the infinitely small, at the heart of the matter and texture of sound, and the passionate exploration of a jungle teeming with micro-sounds, murmurs and elusive textures, a dreamlike universe (superbly compact) with regenerating virtues. Aktuelle Projekte die Duos mit Gary Rouzer (Alexandria, USA) und Korhan Erel (Laptop, Istanbul), sowie mit Robert Klammer (electronics, Hamburg). Er spielt regelmässig in ad-hoc-Besetzungen (u.a. mit Ernesto Rodrigues, Hermann Müntzing, Carl-Ludwig Hübsch, Nicolas Wiese, Ofer Bymel). Seit 2010 organisiert die Konzertreihe Frequenzgänge für improvisierte und experimentelle Musik in Hamburg. Birgit Ulher studierte Malerei und Freie Kunst, die noch immer einen grossen Einfluss auf ihre Musik hat. Seit 1982 lebt sie als freischaffende Musikerin, Klangkünstlerin und Komponistin in Hamburg. Seitdem hat sie eine individuelle, am Klang orientierte musikalische Sprache jenseits des offenen Trompetentons entwickelt. Sie arbeitet mit Radio, Lautsprechern und anderen Objekten und hat damit ihre eigenen Spieltechniken und Präparationen entwickelt. Abgesehen von dieser Materialforschung gilt ihr besonderes Interesse dem Verhältnis von Stille und Klang. Ihre Arbeit umfasst akustische und elektroakustische Projekte, Solo-Performances, Klanginstallationen, Videos, Konzerte mit langjährigen Besetzungen und Ad-hoc- Formationen sowie Projekte mit bildenden Künstlern und Komponisten. Seit 2006 arbeitet sie mit Lautsprechern, gespeist mit Radioklängen, die sie als Trompetendämpfer verwendet. Die Trompete wird hier gleichzeitig zu Sender und Empfänger. Ihre Soloarbeit umfasst sowohl Stücke mit Zuspielung - Traces und splitting 21, eine Zusammenarbeit mit Michael Maierhof - als auch Stücke für Klanginstallationen – z.B. Reveille für die Klang- und Lichtinstallation 'Wake Up' von Allora & Calzadilla. Lectures und Workshops an der Haifa University, SAIC - School of The Art Institut of Chicago, Hochschule für Musik Basel und Queen's University of Belfast, Galeria Mérida, Mexiko Zusammenarbeit u.a. mit Petr Vrba, Franz Hautzinger, Gino Robair, Leonel Kaplan, Lucio Capece, Felipe Araya, Ute Wassermann, Michael Maierhof, Soloprojekte 'Radio Silence No More' und 'Matter Matters'.
