Nicolas Collins & Birgit Ulher // Achtung: Konzertbeginn 20:30 Uhr!Jason Kahn, Elektronik: Geboren 1960 in New York. Lebt seit 2000 in der Schweiz.Arbeitet mit Elektronik im Bereich der frei improvisierten Musik, sowie im Kontext der Klangkunst mit Installationen und Werke für Radio. Als Komponist hat Kahn zahlreiche elektroakustische Stücke sowie grafische Partituren verfasst. Kahn hat drei Bücher über die Klangkunst geschrieben und viele Texte zu CD und Schallplatten Veröffentlichungen sowie Artikel für Zeitschriften erfasst. Kahns Arbeit mit Elektronik beinhaltet chaotische Rückkopplungssysteme und das Einbringen seines Körpers in den Kreislauf. Wenn er mit den Händen nach offenen Kabeln greift, werden Stromkreise geschlossen und unterbrochen, wodurch der Synthesizer überlastet oder zusammenbricht. Diverse Kontaktmikrofone und elektromagnetische Induktivitäten sowie der Synthesizer-eigene Ausgang über ein Mischpult werden verwendet, um die Parameter des Synthesizers zu modulieren, der zwischen Sättigung und sprödem Sputtern oszilliert, wie das Todesrasseln einer Maschine im letzten Atemzug. He is a Professor in the Department of Sound at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Research Fellow at the Orpheus Institute (Ghent). From 1997 - 2017 he was Editor-in-Chief of the Leonardo Music Journal. An early adopter of microcomputers for live performance, Collins also makes use of homemade electronic circuitry and conventional acoustic instruments. His book, Handmade Electronic Music – The Art of Hardware Hacking (Routledge), now in its third edition, has influenced emerging electronic music worldwide.https://www.nicolascollins.com Birgit Ulher, trumpet, radio, speaker, objects, tapes & videocomposer-performer, visual artist Born in Nuremberg, she lives since the early 80s as freelance musician in Hamburg. She studied the visual arts, which still have an important influence on her music. Ulher works mainly on extending the sounding possiblities of the trumpet and has developed her own extended techniques and preparations for producing these sounds. She performs solo and with her working ensembles, collaborations with dancers, visual artists, composers and one-time collaborations with musicians from around the world.
