Cancelled: ATC // Kristin Kuldkepp & John Hughes // Felix Mayer & Birgit Ulher// Quartett ATC - Around the corner is a duo integrated by Eva-Maria Karbacher (sax.) and Victor Barcelo?, (perc.) Their music fluctuate between the free improvisation and the multimedia world with big influences of the techno music, electronic and jazz. Kris Kuldkepp is an Estonian free improviser on double bass and live-electronics. She has performed at the international festivals such as LjudOLjud in Stockholm, Tallinn Music Week, St. Petersburg New Music Festival reMusic, QQ/Viljandi Art Festival. Currently, she is doing a doctorate at the Hamburg University of Applied Science on the topic of the free improviser in gesture-driven spatial sound. The research has led to free improvisational solo set-up pieces for double bass, multichannel live-electronics and video but also to collaborations with other art disciplines. https://www.kristinkuldkepp.net Felix Mayer widmet sich seit 2011, in Bands, Kollektiven und Ad-Hoc Gruppierungen der improvisierten Musik. Jüngste Projekte sind u.a.: das internationale composer-performercollective: „Noiseretreat“, ein Quartett mit Fokus auf graphische Notation mit Heiner Metzger, Christoph Funabashi und Kristin Kuldkepp sowie das interdisziplinäre Performance-Projekt „Everybody Birthdays“ mit Roland Wendling und Matthew Rogers, welches an den Grenzen von improvisierter Musik, Performance und Tanz arbeitet. Konzerte u.a. mit: Simone Weißenfels, Käthe Kruse („Die tödliche Doris“), Olga Nosova, Rafael Toral, Graham Dunning, Rolf Pifnitzka John Hughes begann mit 13 Jahren E-Bass zu spielen. Nach einem abgebrochenen Studium der Musik am Montgomery Community College im Rockville Maryland 1991, zog er nach Baltimore. Dort wechselte er aufgrund des wachsenden Interesses, Jazz zu spielen, 1993 vom E- zum Kontrabass. Im Jahre 1997 nahm John Hughes Kontrabasstunden bei F. Vattel Cherry und spielte in verschiedenen Formationen in Baltimore, New York, Philadelphia und Washington D.C. Seit 1998 wohnt John Hughes in Hamburg. Er spielt Kontrabass in verschiedenen Gruppen u.a. bei Hosho, The Low End, Winnitzki/Hughes/Lücker, Eisenrot, Piho Hupo und in der Zead Khawam's Oriental Band. Neben Soloprojekten arbeitet er mit Tänzern und Künstlern in interdisziplinären Aktionen. John hat folgende Konzert-Reihen organisiert, die Plattformen für freie Improvisierte Musik , Jazz und Free-Jazz waren/sind : Echolot (Alfred Scnittke Akademy), Jazz im El Brujito, Creative Improvised Music in the Gängeviertel, Jazz in the Grete, und Multiphonics für die er in 2015 einen Preis als bester Veranstalter erhalten hat. Victor Barcelois a spanish percussionist based in Basel, where he studied with Christian Dierstein, Alfred Zimmerlin and Fred Frith at the Hochschule for Musik. As performer, Victor’s musical interests focus on contemporary music, techno, new media and improvisation. Several appearances in contemporary music festivals, including Lucerne Festival, Wittener Tage für Neue Musik, Darmstädter Ferienkurs, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Percusione Temporanea, Tzill Meudcan, Heidelberger Frühling, IMPULS Festival and concerts in Argentina, Chile, USA, Japan, Cuba, Poland, Italy, Germany, Estonia, Israel, Greece, France, Austria, Hungary, Russia and Spain.These activities have led him to work with composers such as Marko Ciciliani, Simon Steen Andersen, Michael Maierhof, Jürg Frey, Georges Apperghis, Philppe Manoury and many young composers.He is also member of the ensembleThisensembleThat, neuverBand. Eva-Maria Karbacherstudied saxophone and music pedagogy at the Hochschule Luzern in the saxophone class of Sascha Armbruster and Beat Hofstetter as well as in Berlin at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in the class of Johannes Ernst. Since September 2017 she deepens her abilities as an improviser at the Musikakadmie Basel with a Master of Arts in Specialised Musical Performance in the improvisation class of Alfred Zimmerlin and Fred Frith.In addition to the interpretation of contemporary saxophone literature, free improvisation is at the core of Eva-Maria Karbacher's musical work. She performes regularly as solo improviser as well as in various formations and ensembles. Eva-Maria Karbacher is part of the KlangBang Collective which organises a monthly concert series for free improvised music in Basel. Birgit Ulher studierte Malerei und Freie Kunst, die noch immer einen grossen Einfluss auf ihre Musik hat. Seit 1982 lebt sie als freischaffende Musikerin in Hamburg. Seitdem hat sie eine individuelle, am Klang orientierte musikalische Sprache jenseits des offenen Trompetentons entwickelt. Sie arbeitet mit Radio, Lautsprechern und anderen Objekten und hat damit ihre eigenen Spieltechniken und Präparationen entwickelt. Abgesehen von dieser Materialforschung gilt ihr besonderes Interesse dem Verhältnis von Stille und Klang. Ihre Arbeit umfasst akustische und elektroakustische Projekte, Solo-Performances, Konzerte mit langjährigen Besetzungen und Ad-hoc- Formationen sowie Projekte mit bildenden Künstlern und Komponisten. Lectures und Workshops an der Haifa University, SAIC - School of The Art Institut of Chicago, Hochschule für Musik Basel und Queen's University of Belfast, Galeria Mérida, Mexiko Zusammenarbeit u.a. mit Ute Wassermann, Gino Robair, Leonel Kaplan, Christoph Schiller, Gregory Büttner, Lucio Capece, Gabriele Hasler, dem stark bewölkt quartett (mit Michael Maierhof, Heiner Metzger und Gregory Büttner) und Nordzucker ( mit Chris Heenan und Michael Maierhof), Soloprojekte 'Radio Silence No More' und 'Matter Matters'.
