2 Duos Kristin Kuldkepp – double bass Daniel Gahrton – baritone saxophone Felix Mayer – tromobone Gunnar Lettow – prep. el. bass The Stockholm-Tallinn based duo Daniel Gahrton-Kristin Kuldkepp is a free improvisation duo for baritone saxophone and double bass and started their collaboration in spring 2017. The main focus is to explore the sounds of the low-register acoustical instruments in the context of free improvisation. While both players are active in using the extended techniques and widening their instrument’s vocabulary, the duo instrumentation provides many interesting sound possibilities. Felix Egon Mayer (1990) Die „Donaueschinger Musiktage“ weckten früh das Interesse an den vielfältigen Spielarten zeitgenössischer Musik. Während seiner „klassischen Laufbahn“ spielte er u.a. im Jugendsinfonie Orchester des NDR und dem Landesjugend Ensemble Neue Musik Berlin. 2011 gründete er gemeinsam mit David Leutkart (Grodock) das Improvisations Kollektiv „Sohne“. 2012 ging aus den Sessions der ehemaligen „Freitagsmusik“ das „Jojodefektrio“ mit Pia Abzieher(p, synth) und Sebastian Oest (dr) hervor. Von 2014 – 2018 erweiterte sich das Trio durch Rolf Pifnitzka zum Quartett. Konzerte u.a. mit: Simone Weißenfels, Olga Nosova, Luise Volkmann, Käthe Kruse („Die tödliche Doris“), Christoph Funabashi, Dirk Achim Dhonau, John Hughes, Chad Popple, Graham Dunning.
