Stark Bewölkt: Strøm / Ernesto Rodrigues & Nuno Torres

Stark Bewölkt: Strøm / Ernesto Rodrigues & Nuno Torres

Stark Bewölkt – Konzertreihe für aktuelle Musik präsentiert zwei Duos: strøm (Christian Müller, electronics & Gaudenz Badrutt, electronics) aus Biel und Ernesto Rodrigues (viola) & Nuno Torres (altsaxophon)aus Lissabon. Info: Strøm are Gaudenz Badrutt (electronics) and Christian Müller (electronics). They are working together for 15 years and have played numerous concerts all over Europe and realized many musical and interdisciplinary projects. The artistic practice of the Swiss duo is first and foremost syncretic: it recombines free improvisation with conceptual music, contemporary music ideas with noise explosions, minimalism and drone, construction with disruption. A massive amount of effects pedals, two computers used as live samplers and loads of cables and switches are the duo's machinery: an instrument with a life on its own to play with the unpredictable. The electronics does not only influence the sound itself, but also the musicians in their play. Without being awake, alert and fast it doesn't work. Without not knowing where to end up, they don't even start. The musical focus on exploration of sounds and textures. A non conventional instrumental language, playing with notions of timbre, plasticity and color. An aesthetic free form of improvisation within minimal approach. Nearing silence and privileging a close relationship with the acoustic space. An overall music experience of intimacy and detail. Ernesto Rodrigues He has been playing the violin for 30 years. His main interest shifted towards contemporary improvised and composed music. Has created the record label Creative Sources Recordings in 1999. https://www.creativesourcesrec.com Nuno Torres Studied alto saxophone within a jazz tradition spectrum. His continuous solo experimental research explores a wide scope of sound material through the use of the extended technics. Participates and curates experimental and community radio initiatives.
