Heather Frasch – fluteMax Murray – tubaHeather Frasch, is a composer of acoustic and electro-acoustic music, improviser and experimental flutist and works on sound installations.Her music has been performed at festivals and concerts worldwide such as: FRUM (Iceland), Atlas Academy (Amsterdam), ICMC (Huddersfield), NYCEMF (New York), SICMF (Korea), Moscow Autumn Festival, San Francisco Tape Music Festival, Acanthes Festival (Luxembourg) and the Third Practice Electronic Music Festival (Virginia), among others.She attended the Cursus for Young Composers at IRCAM (France) with Yann Maresz, Schloss Solitude Academy (Stuttgart) with Chaya Czernowin and Mark Andre, and the Wellesley Composer Conference with Mario Davidovsky. Other honors include the George Ladd Prix de Paris in Composition, International Sergei Slonimsky Composition Competition Prize in 2012, and the Nicol DeLorernzo Prize in Composition, 2010 and 2008.She currently received her Phd from the University of California, Berkeley where she studied composition with Franck Bedrossian and Edmund Campion, and worked on interactive electronic music at CNMAT (Center for New Music and Audio Technologies) with David Wessel. Heather holds a Silver Medal from the Conservatoire Nationale de Region de Lyon and a Bachelor of Arts from Temple University.BR>Composer Max Murray’s music has been performed by ensembles and soloists Ensemble Surplus (Freiburg), contralto Noa Frenkel (Tel-Aviv), ensemble hand werk (Köln) ensemble apparat (Berlin) and Aventa Ensemble (Victoria). As a performer he has worked with ensembles such as the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Staatsoper Berlin Werkstatt, Ensemble Kollektiv Berlin, Vancouver New Music, and the Academy Orchestra of the Berlin Philharmonic, as-well as in 2011 and 2013 performing as a member of the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra. From 2010 to 2012 he attended the summer composition course of the SWR Experimental studio, and since 2011 has performed with the Experimental Studio throughout Europe as a member of Ensemble Experimental. In 2013 he was a guest soloist at the SALT Festival forNew Music (Victoria, Canada), and in 2015 will be a visiting performer in the composition department of Stanford University. He is a member of Forma Leipzig, of the improvisation/real-time composing project pneuma (Berlin), and is a founding member of ensemble apparat (Berlin), a brass chamber ensemble dedicated to the performance of contemporary music. In 2013 he participated in the Akademie Schloss Solitude summer composition academy, and for the 2014/15 academic year will be a visiting fellow in the composition department at Harvard University. Forthcoming works have been commissioned by clarinet soloists Heather Roche (Köln) and Liam Hockley (Vancouver), and the organ/percussion duo of Zsigmond Szathmári and Olaf Tzschoppe (Freiburg). He completed his undergraduate studies with distinction at the University of Victoria in composition and theory, and graduate degrees in performance and composition at the Berlin, and Leipzig Conservatories where he was awarded a Hanns Eisler Prize for the interpretation of contemporary music, and the Leipziger Komposition Preis.
